Staff Report
Brampton’s Rose Theatre will present Broken Images, an hour-long English drama, on Oct 21 at 7pm.
Starring renown film actor and social worker Shabana Azmi, Girish Karnad’s Broken Image is a seductive psychological thriller that has quickly garnered critical acclaim from media and the theatre-going public since its opening in 2010 at the TATA Theatre in Mumbai, India.
Following successful touring through the US last year, the performance at The Rose is Broken Images‘ Canadian debut.
“Thrilled to be performing in the GTA,” says Shabana Azmi, an international, award-winning cine-actress and human rights activist.
“Stage is one platform that never ceases to surprise audiences. Broken Images is one of my most challenging performances to date. Like most of Karnad’s plays, which are both complex and multi-layered, the play is technically demanding.
“The stage becomes a conversation between two sisters, one in the real realm and the other in the virtual,” said Azmi.
Tickets are $50 and $75. Limited VIP tickets are also available for $110, which include a meet & greet event with Shabana Azmi.
To order, call the Rose Theatre Box Office at 905-874-2800 or visit: www.rosetheatre.ca.
