Bomb scare at Rockwood Mall
A bomb call to a Mississauga shopping centre turned out to be a fish tale last night — or more like a fish tail.
It was about 9 p.m. when a woman returned to her car outside the Rockwood Shopping Centre at Burnhamthorpe Rd. E. and Dixie Rd. to find a wrapped package lying near her vehicle.
It had a note attached to it stating: “Do not touch.”
She went into a store in the mall, where employees notified police.
The Peel Regional Police bomb squad responded. They evacuated the parking lot and surrounding area and deployed a robot to approach the package, which was wrapped in green plastic bags.
The package was opened by the robot just after 1 a.m. Inside was a fish.
Const. Erin Cooper of Peel Police says police are following up to determine if the woman was “targeted” in the incident.
