Staff Report
The Pink Gala — a fundraising event for The Scarborough Hospital Foundation — will be held on Sunday (April 13) at Markham Convention Centre.
Dr. Shivani Sharma, an avid philanthropist, and Mrs. Deepti Aurora, an active community leader for more than 30 years, hosted the event.
The beneficiary of the event is The Scarborough Hospital Foundation. All proceeds raised will go towards building a state of the art Integrated Cancer Centre for surgery with reconstruction.
At Scarborough Hospital, reconstruction after mastectomy is an integral part of treatment and they have integrated a reconstruction strategy into a coordinated plan that sometimes combines surgery and reconstruction in a single process.
The Scarborough Hospital is one of only four hospitals in Ontario offering micro vascular breast reconstruction and is currently in the top 10 for the highest volume of breast reconstruction cases in the province.
The theme for the gala is ‘Night of Hollywood Bollywood’.
