About Osler’s Assessment Centre for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
What and where is the Assessment Centre?
Osler’s Assessment Centre is a dedicated screening and assessment centre for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and is one of several being established at hospitals across Ontario to support the health and safety of our communities.
Location: An isolated area within Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness, 20 Lynch Street in Brampton. This space is located in a self-contained area at Peel Memorial and does not impact other patients who are attending the Urgent Care Centre or outpatient services at the site. Osler continues to be a safe place to receive care.
Entrance: Separate outside entrance on the South side of the building, as well as dedicated outdoor parking next to the entrance. On-site directions will be available.
Screening Process: The Assessment Centre opens at 10 a.m. People who meet the criteria for assessment (as listed below) will be assigned a ticket for screening. Every effort will be made to screen as many individuals as possible each day.
To ensure that Osler is able to perform assessments safely, the number of tickets issued each day will be limited depending on capacity. Patients with a ticket will receive priority admittance the following day.
Who should come to the Assessment Centre?
·         Anyone who has contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 who also has fever, or cough, or sore throat, or respiratory symptoms (e.g., shortness of breath, trouble breathing)

People can self-refer or be referred by a physician. Based on an assessment of their symptoms, people may be tested for COVID-19, as appropriate, and receive direction regarding next steps in their care.
Will the Assessment Centre issue absence notes for employment purposes?
No. The Assessment Centre has been established strictly to screen and assess patients for COVID-19. Notes for employment or other purposes will not be provided by physicians or other clinical staff.
