Torontonians urged to socially distance this weekend, with Mother’s Day gatherings suspected in recent spike in COVID-19 cases

Dr. Eileen de Villa, the head of Toronto Public Health, says the city needs to monitor data to see if events like Mother’s Day, or increased gatherings of people as the city reopens, are creating more COVID-19 transmissions.

Mother’s Day may be behind the recent increase in COVID-19 infections currently being recorded in Toronto, according to the city’s medical officer of health.
