Two men from Misssissauga had a bail hearing today after being charged in connection with what the Peel police call a human trafficking and firearm possession investigation.
Peel Regional Police say that on Monday, vice unit investigators looked into a report of a female being forced to work in the sex trade at a local Mississauga hotel.
“Upon further investigation, officers determined the suspect was allegedly exercising control over aspects of the victim’s life and profited from it financially,” Peel Regional Police stated on Tuesday night (Jan. 31).
Tuesday, police say they carried out a search warrant in the hotel room, and officers located a .40-calibre Glock 27 Gen 5 handgun.
Michael Wilson, 21, of Mississauga and Kejwuan Hawley-Milton, a 24-year-old from Mississauga, each face multiple criminal counts. They were held for a bail hearing in a Brampton court.
Wilson is charged with:
Exercise of control
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
Careless storage of a firearm
